They may walk on all fours and have hair from nose to tail, but our pets are family. Let us give thanks for the love and comfort they bring to our lives.

Dear God,
St. Francis of Assisi showed us
that your family of creation extends
to the birds in the sky,
the fish in the sea,
the dog at my feet,
and the cat on my lap.
For their companionship,
I am grateful.
Because their love is unconditional,
I am humbled.
Thank you for animals, wild or tame,
who bring color and warmth
to an often grey and cold world.
Amen.
Act
To an animal, food equals love—especially human food. Table scraps are a nice way of inviting our four-legged friends to the table.
