We Bear Witness with Our Lives

We each come with our story and unique history; we carry in our bodies the genes of generations present and past. Experiences and relationships bind us to yet a larger story. It is our privilege and responsibility to make choices that nurture and bear witness to our love of God demonstrated by mutual charity. Clare encouraged her sisters to recognize the dignity of their calling and the possible far-reaching effects of their actions. Rooted in faith and guided by the lives of Jesus and Francis, they learned about and leaned into a lifestyle of simplicity, humility, and poverty. Clare’s ageless wisdom encourages us to respect each other as unique as well as interdependent members of the human family. We, too, are reminded that our actions bear potential influence on others.
