From time to time something in the landscape or the weather leaps out at us, and we feel that we have been here before, that time is being somehow reversed; and even if we don’t remember what the past experience was, we relive the feel of it. I sometimes think heaven will be that way. It will be a new experience, but something about it will awaken the feeling that somewhere in another life we have experienced something like this newness. And it will be good, both in itself and in the remembering, for surely we are increasing our enjoyment of heaven even now. In cooperating with God here and now we are in a sense preparing part of our own heaven.
