If I’ve learned anything as a friar, it is that being a Christian means leaving behind everything and being totally fine with accepting whatever God gives me—big or small, happy or painful.

God loves us in spite of our flaws. We are not irredeemable. To believe otherwise is the real sin.

It passed from hand to hand, through thick and thin.

For decades, the saints have been my mentors in prayer, faith companions whom the centuries cannot separate.

The invitation is to step consciously into that river of healing and to let it take us toward a kinder, gentler way of treating ourselves, each other, and our common home.
