Start the New Year with Franciscan Media!

The new year starts off with high hopes. Among them are a prayer for peace. Our world finds itself embroiled in several major wars, numerous civil conflicts, ethnic strife and the ongoing threat of terrorism from those who hold extreme views and would seek to force them on others. In this global climate of violence, fear and uncertainty, a new year's prayer for peace seems appropriate.

Sir Gilbert Levine had a long friendship with the late Pope John Paul II, beginning when the composer/conductor led a concert in the Pope's hometown in Poland. A series of concerts at the Vatican followed, with the themes of peacemaking and harmony among world religions. Producer Judy Zarick speaks with Sir Gilbert in the first ACR "Living Faith" interview of 2011.

As Time magazine names Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg as its "Person of the Year," the importance of social media for our age becomes obvious. It is said that if Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest nation in the world. ACR will explore the impact of social media, as well as look at internet safety for families in its second 2011 program.

Lots of other ways to connect are possible: See www.FranciscanMedia.org to keep in touch with us!
